The Marion County Common Pleas Drug Court was first launched in June of 2013 by the Honorable Jim Slagle. The Marion County Common Pleas F.I.R.S.T. (Facilitating Intervention Regarding Substance Treatment) received initial certification from the Ohio Supreme Court in December of 2013. Drug Court is held every Monday at 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. and the court hearings are open to the public.
To help severely drug addicted criminal defendants become drug free productive citizens.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
The goals and objectives of the Marion County Drug Court hereafter referred to as the Facilitating Intervention Regarding Substance Treatment (FIRST) Court are as follows:
Goal 1: Improve public safety by reducing future drug related offenses.
Objective: To reduce recidivism 50% for FIRST Court graduates.
Performance Measure: Compare the number of convictions for a drug court graduate during the year following graduation as compared to the year before entering the drug court.
Goal 2: To reduce illegal drug usage among FIRST Court participants.
Objective: Reduce positive drug tests by 50%.
Performance Measure: Compare the percentage of positive drug screens among drug court participants during participation in Phase 1 and Phase 3 of participation in the drug court docket.
Goal 3: To have FIRST Court participants successfully complete substance abuse treatment.
Objective: 65% of FIRST Court participants successfully complete substance abuse treatment within one year.
Performance Measure: Measure the percentage of FIRST Court participants who successfully complete their substance abuse treatment program within one year of entering the FIRST Court.
Goal 4: To have drug court participants become self-supporting citizens.
Objective: 75% of FIRST Court graduates employed upon graduation.
Performance Measure: Percentage of FIRST Court graduates who are employed.
Goal 5: To have FIRST Court graduates become part of a supportive recovering community.
Objective: 75% of FIRST Court graduates continuing to actively participate in Narcotics Anonymous or other 12 step recovery program six months after graduation
Performance Measure: Percentage of FIRST Court graduates who are still actively participating in Narcotics Anonymous or other 12 step recovery program six months after graduation.
